Progress Updates (2 total)

Update #1: Launch a data consulting business

I have had an idea to start my own consulting business as a freelance data consultant to help small-medium businesses deal with inefficient processes, report generation, or business operation visibility. I know how to combine my knowledge of data science and systems engineering to assess a client's needs and develop a solution based on their criteria. https://dataclaritylabs.com/
Challenges Overcome: I've actually done quite a bit prior to making this goal. I've already done all the background infrastructure work of getting a domain, hosting the site, building the webpages, setting up an inquery form, and setting up the business email.
Obstacles Faced: Sales pitches to get clients. I have practically no experience in selling a product, let alone my own skills as a product. I feel like this will be my biggest obstacle that I will have to mentally and consciencely work to overcome.
Next Steps: As explained in what I've already done, I've already completed several first steps. From this point, I think the focus will be to land an initial client and build a portfolio of work to then use as a backboard to showcase work I've done in the past.
Looking Back: I've learned a lot more about hosting a website and deployments. I had previous experience with wordpress sites, but chose to go with cloudflare this time and have had a much better experience overall.

Update #2: Business cards

50% complete
Made some business cards to share with others. This should hopefully expose my website to more potential clients and I can handle them out when I meet people.
Challenges Overcome: designed business cards to share
Obstacles Faced: The QR code I made and printed in the cards wasn't permanent... I'll have to get some stickers to replace the QR code.
Next Steps: Keep working on the site and attract some client(s)
Looking Back: used a new software called inkscape to make the design. It was an intuitive software to use.
