Progress Updates (3 total)

Update #1: Declutter and donate my space

Empty out the bathroom closet, organize and donate stuff I don’t need anymore
Challenges Overcome: I removed all the towels for now
Obstacles Faced: Throughout the years I’ve collected tiny soaps, shampoo & conditioner bottles and towel sets from the various hotels and resorts. I also have towels I hand painted in my teens, some from when the kids were little and the occasional holiday towels. Deciding which ones to part with will take some emotional energy
Next Steps: I would like to only keep the towel sets and remove the singles while organizing the first aid kits, soaps, loofahs, hair products…
Looking Back: I feel that I should no longer keep anything that doesn’t reflect who I am now.

Update #2: Laid everything out on the bed

35% complete
I can see what was in there now
Challenges Overcome: I can almost tell which ones need to go
Obstacles Faced: I’m wondering if I should arrange by color, size or usage: beach, guest, every day …?
Next Steps: Decide what really needs to stay
Looking Back: I don’t think i needed to buy new towels as often for our guests

Update #3: Finished ..for now

100% complete
I can easily find what I need from the closet
Challenges Overcome: Removing items that don’t reflect who I am or don’t have sentimental value
Obstacles Faced: I know that I kept more than I need but enough to accommodate a visiting family staying for a while. I also hate throwing away things that are not fit for donation, so I need to use them elsewhere.
Next Steps: This is but the literal drop in the bucket. We have stuff that span 2 countries and decades of living and raising children.
Looking Back: Organizing makes me feel calm. I would’ve liked to have one more shelf in order to utilize the space to its fullest. I will look for clear stackable containers instead.
