Progress Updates (20 total)
Update #1: create a junk journal 📓
I’m really trying to disconnect from social media a little bit more because I feel like we are stuck in a loop. junk journaling helps me to be more present in every day life and collect momentum to remember all the memories🥰
Update #2: decorated my journal cover!🎀
10% completeI added a lot of stickers because I didn’t love the words that were over the journal and I added stickers to the back of the journal as well to customize it and make it more personal! I love all this turned out especially because I’ve always wanted to do this but never had the guts to put stickers on the outside of my journal!🤭🎀
Update #3: i created my intro page!
10% completeWho I am with some words to describe me!
Looking Back: look at more than inspiration! don’t rush it and make sure that you like the concept before just going in.
Update #4: all the “junk” from when i bought my journal
10% completethe first official junk journal spread!
Obstacles Faced: i need to learn how to make the “junk” prettier and how to incorporate that into my journal style a little more!
Update #5: BIRTHDAY spread!
15% completeI use some pictures and junk from my birthday to create a birthday spread I still have a lot of other items that I will create more spreads ways but for now this is the first one!
Update #6: more birthday spreads!
15% completei created a photobooth and little junk dump!
Looking Back: make sure to cut out the area where you will place in your photos and to only glue AROUND it! otherwise the photos won’t go in and out!
Update #7: last birthday spread and started my goal update!
15% completemy final birthday spread!
Looking Back: folding the balloon flat is great but you have to secure it with a little piece of washing tape just so that it doesn’t unfold the whole time while you are using your journal!
Update #8: PINK PAGE
15% completeI’ve been seeing a lot of people to color pages and since pink is my favorite I wanted to do a pink spread!
Obstacles Faced: finding ways to stick in multiple materials got a little bit hard but if you have double-sided tape that usually does the trick!
Looking Back: don’t just use paper! Spread are so much more interactive and fun when you use multiple different types of material.
I ended up using tissue paper, a piece of a grocery bag and I even sprayed it with pink perfume at the end! Play around with all your senses when you create spreads🎀
Update #9: empanada spread!
20% completei’ve really been loving empanadas lately and found a really good place close to us! I decided to keep all the junk from our food delivery and make a spread with it while adding a photo of my boyfriend and I🥰🤭
Update #10: day 14✨
20% completei used old TOILET PAPER rolls and some bounty!! i love how this spread turned out.
Obstacles Faced: using toilet paper rolls and trying to keep it aesthetic was a little diff but my boyfriend came up with the “scroll” idea and to burn the edges!
Looking Back: you can make art with ANYTHING. you don’t need to spend money to be creative.
Update #11: NEW YORK for Autumn🍁
25% completenow that the weather has been a little more crisp it officially feels like all day and when I think about autumn I remember when I used to live in New York! I still had a lot of my film pictures printed out and decided to make a page dedicated to New York
Obstacles Faced: I still tried to incorporate “junk” and use our pasta box for both of the flip out card areas and also added a piece of our tomato container for some texture!!
Looking Back: you don’t necessarily have to use “junk” that you are going to throw away, it can also be items that you put away and completely forgot about!
Update #12: Poppi Page!
25% completewe got Bobby for the first time and I wanted to make a spread with the boxes and also use some of the can!
Looking Back: for the Can you have to make sure that you have double sided tape or a glue gun because of the aluminum material it’s not going to stick to a page with regular glue!
Update #13: day 20🎄
30% completefor the Christmas tree pop up I just folded a large piece of paper so that when I stick it it would create this cute effect!
I also added the interactive presence that when you open them they have my Christmas wish list on it !
Update #14: day 21🎅🏼
30% completefor the spread I did more of a scrapbooking spread!
I added some of my favorite photos during the holidays and road around the pictures what exactly it is that I love about Christmas!
This is such a fun spread to re-create every year because you can see how your favorites change!
Update #15: SNOW GLOBE
35% completemaking the snow globe was easier than I thought but still a little challenging! This is such a fun interactive page that I recommend everyone to try!
Looking Back: you can use a lot of different trash to create something creative! Don’t buy new things to create! use what you have🤍
Update #16: woven scraps!
65% completeI decided to use all of my scraps from my holiday spreads and create a woven page! You start by attaching all of the vertical pieces to the top of the page and then leaving the rest un-glued.
then as you add your horizontal stripes one by one after you move it through going under -over a few times you secure your horizontal strap on the side which then secures the vertical at that exact spot!
continue this throughout the whole page and just finish the bottom by securing all of the vertical straps together and your woven page should be complete 🥰
Challenges Overcome: almost done with the journal!
Looking Back: if you want to keep scrap paper from your holidays or a special moment but you have too many different options it is really great to do a woven page!!
Update #17: sticker bomb page!✨
70% completei wanted to do a sticker “dump” page before the journal is finished! I love how the golden bomb added something a little extra and made the page look really cute!
Obstacles Faced: it can be hard to just put a bunch of stickers down on a page BUT- it is also really therapeutic to just go for it!
it doesn’t matter what it looks like in the end, it’s a “bomb” or “explosion” of stickers!
Update #18: late christmas spread😅
80% completefinally got around to doing the first christmas spread! only 2 more pages to go before we start a new journal!
Obstacles Faced: life has been crazy so keeping up with my goal had been difficult but thankfully i have all my progress logged here!
Update #19: christmas gift spread!
90% completei didn’t expect to receive a gift card at work for christmas since i just started but they gave me one and it made me so teary! Crazy how a good work environment can change your perspective on work!😂
Update #20: FINAL SPREAD 🥳✨
100% completeI’m so proud of myself for finally accomplishing a goal and it’s all because I was able to keep track of my progress on the Opus Café app! I usually get discouraged when I try to accomplish some goals and I believe that by seeing progress that I’ve made and having it logged motivated me to continue going! ON TO THE NEXT!✨
Challenges Overcome: accomplishing the goal! i have never achieved this because i get discouraged BUT by seeing my progress I was motivated to finish!
