Update #1: Make a set of DnD Miniatures

Had a fun Christmas activity with extended family playing a round of Dungeons and Dragons and wanted to commemorate it by building each person their own miniature character
Challenges Overcome: Bought Tools Clay and Armature Wire, began building the first couple of internal frames
Obstacles Faced: Scale is a challenge because the minis dont want to be more than 28mm (approximately 1 1/8”) tall or 1” wide, getting clear details on that scale will be tough
Next Steps: Beginning with making the armature wire internal skeletons then coating the pieces in their first layer of clay
Looking Back: Though I havent gotten far enough to test it yet I did some research on the best materials to buy for this project.. im going with armature wire which is light and very pliable and oven bake polymer clay so that I can permanently “set” them once Ive completed the minis

Update #2: Finished the wire frames for all 6 figures and have finished adding clay to two of them

30% complete
All six figures wire armature skeletons have been finished, i have begun adding clay to the figures and finished two of them, once all six are at the clay stage then they will be baked in the oven to set the clay before painting

Update #3: Finished adding clay to the wire armature bases

50% complete
All of the miniatures are ready for firing in the oven, next they will be painted and sealed

Update #4: Finished painting the miniatures!

100% complete
Well they arent perfect but I learned a lot about how to sculpt clay on a very small scale from this project. I think the next time i try ill get more of the detail created in the clay stage since it carries through best when painting. Definitely will try again soon.
