Progress Updates (6 total)
Update #1: Get a new passport and travel overseas
This is a goal I came up with as part of my 2025 New Years' Resolutions. I used to travel a lot overseas, but it has been more than 5 years since I last left the US. To further complicate things, my passport expired.
Challenges Overcome: I've decided I'm going to travel to Europe sometime in November.
Looking Back: Buying a flight overseas well in advance (6+ months) won't necessarily be cheaper than buying a flight a few months in advance.
Update #2: Got my new passport
50% completeGot my new passport finally. My wife and I are leaving in less than a week to visit her family in the Balkans. We're gonna go to at least 2 countries and we'll probably try to go to one more in the region
Update #3: Traveled in Bosnia and Herzegovina
50% completeI've been in Bosnia for a little less than a week now, visiting my wife's family. Today we visited Skelani and explored the ruins of an Ancient Roman villa. I wish I could add more photos to show the cool mosaics there.
Update #4: Traveled in Serbia
85% completeI've spent the last few days traveling in 🇷🇸. Yesterday, we went to the hills outside the town where my wife's cousin lives and explored some ruins of an ancient fort as well as some caves. The view was spectacular!
Update #5: Traveled in Romania and returned home
95% completeI traveled to Timișoara in Romania for two days and met some of my wife's friends. Nice country. Wish I got to explore more of the downtown because the few areas I saw had beautiful buildings.
In total, I traveled to 3 countries, one of which was one I hadn't been to before. Tim to update the map
Update #6: Map Updated
100% completeUpdated my travel map.
Challenges Overcome: Going to a new country
Obstacles Faced: Finding enough time to do everything, ie scheduling.
