Progress Updates (4 total)

Update #1: Finish my solo adventure

I’m adventuring across the western states
Challenges Overcome: So far I’ve been in LA and LV, many more stops to add!

Update #2: Visit Grand Canyon

30% complete
Decided to knock off GC earlier on my trip because I had some free time - the photos do not do it justice!
Challenges Overcome: Realised I forgot to plan a stop and needed to get the Grand Canyon done before I arrived at my next location.
Obstacles Faced: Drove a total of 7hrs today to get to the GC and to my family’s house, so was prettyyyy tired when I arrived.
Next Steps: Next steps is exploring Phoenix Arizona and then off to Salt Lake City.
Looking Back: I planned so much out to try to ease my anxiety, but obviously I can’t plan everything! Got to learn to just roll with it and figure it out as it comes sometimes.

Update #3: Arizona and Utah

50% complete
Unfortunately my plans to get to Salt Lake changed - but I was still able to get to Zion National Park (and buy a few goodies) and my goodness was it breathtaking!
Challenges Overcome: Had to quickly changed my plans, with some help from friends and family. Was so happy to get to Zion, honestly I don't think I've registered its beauty still. If you ever have the chance to get there, GO!
Obstacles Faced: Was quite stressed out when my plans changed last minute, but I was actually very proud with how I handled it.
Next Steps: I'm back in Vegas now, because of the change of plans, and then onto LA and SF next!

Update #4: Yosemite, SF and LA

100% complete
Was able to catch up with some old friends, family and adventure around! I loved venturing around Yosemite - it was so stunning. Will definitely be back there again to put more time to it and try to do some more hikes. San Francisco reminded me a lot of Wellington New Zealand - the weather, the hills, the people. I would most definitely live there, maybe by the time I'm there the self driving cars will be open to the public! I added in a few extra days to stroll down from San Francisco to LA - the views were beautiful. Now in the East Coast :)
Looking Back: I mentioned this in the last update I believe, but I put a lot of attention and detail into creating my itinerary before leaving. Initially, there were a few last minute changes to my plans that made it very stressful. But as I kept going, I gave up the need for control and the need for my days to match my itinerary. It really helped me enjoy my trip more rather than stress. Hoping I can take this lesson with me in my day-to-day.
