Update #1: Carve a Halloween Pumpkin

Let’s get spooky

Update #2: Viciously Gutted

20% complete
Pumpkin gutted.
Challenges Overcome: Pumpkin successfully emptied.
Obstacles Faced: I dont think i did a great job emptying out the guts but whatever.
Next Steps: Now i can start designing. See how early you can figure out my design 🤫
Looking Back: I Googled pumpkin carving techniques. One thing i saw was to make the hole on the bottom, as keeping the stem intact preserves the pumpkin longer. So thats what i did.

Update #3: Started carving

35% complete
Some painting, some carving, some planning. In that order. 👀
Challenges Overcome: Sizing up the drawing ratios, figuring out the correct pumpkin side to use, get goin.
Obstacles Faced: I think i needed much thicker paint to achieve what i wanted. Probably shouldnt have bothered. Its fine
Next Steps: More
Looking Back: Tried to paint the pumpkin orange first, thinking it would create a more robust canvas to work on. But the juice wasn’t really worth the squeeze. I needed a better paint or something.

Update #4: Finished painting

100% complete
SpongeBob’s house. Happy Halloween!
Challenges Overcome: I think the painting came out good. Basically just sent it. Steady hand. #1 surgeon.
Obstacles Faced: I hate gutting the pumpkin. I dont like pumpkin. I think i need to gut it more honestly but its probably fine.
Next Steps: Putting a strobe light in the pumpkin wouldve been cool like the dance party episode.
Looking Back: Cutting from the bottom turned out to be pretty nice. Also less stress about not being able to fit the lid back on top.
