Progress Updates (4 total)
Update #1: wrap gifts like a pro!
I came across this instagram account over the weekend and was influenced! She does such a beautiful job wrapping gifts and I want to try my hand at it. I already am really particular when it comes to choosing wrapping paper and ribbons but i’ve never seen anyone make the bow on the front from all these different kinds of ribbon the way she does. stunning!
Challenges Overcome: Perused through this woman’s instagram account and watched many of her reels to see how she does it
Obstacles Faced: I feel like getting it to look how i want it to is going to be a struggle at first. I also sometimes struggle trying to tie the knot on the front of the present.
Looking Back: I know that it will require patience and lots of practice!
Update #2: purchased some ribbon
10% completeI purchased some ribbon but am still waiting for more to arrive in the mail
Challenges Overcome: took the first step in learning how to wrap like a pro!
Obstacles Faced: practicing and potentially wasting the ribbon if i don’t love the look
Looking Back: i unfortunately had to order from amazon as their prices were the cheapest. i was able to get multipacks for $4.99 vs one roll at that price at local chain craft stores
Update #3: my first attempt!
20% completeAll of the ribbon came in the mail and i picked up some wrapping paper at home goods. my niece turns 5 in february (i know i’m super early!) but i figured practice makes perfect!
Challenges Overcome: i think it looks pretty good for my first time! the colors and textures are so cool and i really love the happy birthday ribbon
Obstacles Faced: using too much ribbon and having to cut it back just means wasting ribbon so need to be more mindful of that next time
Looking Back: I realized that i don’t have to leave the strips of ribbon so long so after i had tied it all off i went back to trim them down. i also found more ribbon in the bottom of a bag so had to untie everything and add more. there is some ribbon that has wire along the edges which i did use but kind of makes the other ribbon move around when tied. i might try to avoid using that kind in the future
Update #4: new wrapping paper and ribbon
30% completeI used a new wrapping paper and new colors of ribbon and liked how it had a whimsical vibe
Challenges Overcome: i like matching the ribbon with the specific wrapping paper i’m using to create the whole picture
Obstacles Faced: i still tend to cut the ribbon too long so when i have to trim it, it’s wasted. need to get better at estimating!
