Progress Updates (5 total)
Update #1: Draw in a stylistic way a tennis woman
I draw but I always wonder how to make it personal and not just a drawing of what I see. I want to find a way to create my own touch in art.
Challenges Overcome: First I did what academic taught me, just structured lines to be able to draw something ok. My supposition is that to end up with something "stylistically me" I need to start with the basics and then try things.
Update #2: I draw easy volumes lines
30% completeToday I kept with the same thinking. I tried to have the lines not linking together but at least matching together. I want to see the volumes of the body and of the clothes to then start creating something. So, i did a cap and a skirt but without details. I think it looks ok and I can already start to have fun trying things tomorrow.
Obstacles Faced: I thinks it's hard to go against myself, like I always do things the same way in drawing but this progress brings me to other way of thinking drawing
Looking Back: I usually try to add details instantly but it appears processing the drawing slowly in a coherent way is better. because now I see were to focus and were I will have to be more accurate in my drawing. From now on I will process this way it widens the creativity
Update #3: I create the movement
50% completeI wanted to get the lines to be coherent and then to have them giving a feeling of movement.
Challenges Overcome: In order to let my inspiration go I new to know were the movements are and were it will be interesting to work on later in the progress. I drew lines matching together even if they should not anatomically speak. Because the thing is the movement start and end somewhere but generates strength in several body members at once. this idea of combining lines, might be a good start to stylize the drawing later.
Obstacles Faced: it was not an easy thing to do and I really went through a lot of redrawing. I wanted the lines to have in a way, a good harmony and not just randomly drew, it went well I guess, at least I like it and it's good for what's coming next.
Looking Back: I new the importance of the movement but I figured out that I could be shown very simply and with big hard lines too. this is not just about being very precise and everything very academic I learnt before. challenging myself through this progress really help me thinking other way to think drawing.
Update #4: Keep on stylizing my drawing
50% completeI know it looks like the previous one but it isn't. I tried a lot of different lines for this one and kept in mind the previous one. I needed something clearer with few lines which suggest the body and the movement.
Challenges Overcome: I went deeper into getting to stylize the drawing. the first attempt was good, I did like it but this one is more personal. for exemple I was inspired by Keith Haring with theses lines suggesting the movement but for this one I linked some of the lines of the body with these little semi circle. Im still seeking for better lines but my seeing me "style" getting in this way of drawing is a very happy thing. I like it.
Obstacles Faced: the challenge is to be happy and have fun with the new lines I add. if it gets better each time, im sure I'll reach a turning point and I shall know I have now my style.
Looking Back: I did learn to get rid of the previous lines and ideas that I thought was not this good after all. and I also learnt to keep the good ideas were they are. the hard thing is to choose and sometimes I erase a line and it leads to the fall of more and more lines so I need to know when to stop.
Update #5: the drawing is finish
100% completeThis was the most enjoyable part of the project. Delving into the details of the drawing, refining the facial features, and continuously composing in the same style is very enriching. I really felt that all the previous steps allowed me to enjoy the drawing; it’s at this final stage that it takes on meaning, and the small details give it substance.
Challenges Overcome: For example, roughly sketching the character's shadow brings a more lively, mobile, and real aspect, I think. The same goes for the small spiral on the racket; everyone understands it's a racket without needing to draw the string weaving. It's better to have fun with the possibilities, and the spiral adds movement, so it's perfect.
Obstacles Faced: Clearly the biggest challenge is to find a way of stylizing the drawing that suits your level and your aspiration.
You can't aim for a result you already know you can't achieve, otherwise you will lose motivation, I think it's important to see you progressing.
