Progress Updates (3 total)
Update #1: Bike a Marathon
I bike to and from work every day, recently have been pushing myself to try longer rides through the bike paths in Boston, want to see if I can get to 26.2 miles
Challenges Overcome: Daily 3 mile rides, once a week I do a 10+ mile ride. Current record is 15.1 miles
Obstacles Faced: Living in Boston I only have about 2 months before it’s too cold to ride until spring.
Update #2: Tried to map a route for optimized 26 mile trek
40% completeTrying to find a route that isn’t all car roads to avoid having to stop and go, took the charles path to the west end today but ran out of bikable trail, going to try going to Newton next time.
Update #3: Biked 26.25 miles today
100% completeWent out for a ride today, I had originally planned to got about 10-15 miles but as I was riding I just felt like I had more in the tank so I just kept going, once I hit 15 miles I realized I still had some fight left so I told myself I would aim for 20 miles, but as I kept going I thought that I would be kicking myself if I went 20 and didn’t get the last 6.2, so I just kept chugging along. Thanks to Jad for motivating me and Heather for meeting me along the route to cheer me on (and snapping this picture), might not have made it if it wasn’t for you two 🫶.
Challenges Overcome: Feel a sense of accomplishment, wasn’t sure if I could do it but I set this goal to challenge myself, highly recommend getting out and going for a ride, it’s a great escape from the daily grind of city living.
Obstacles Faced: Definitely should not have gone for it the day after doing 13.1, will probably do more long distance rides like this but limiting myself to one per week
Looking Back: Just gotta keep chugging
