Update #1: Make a 2-Foot Nacho Tower
My goal is to make a huge al pastor nacho volcano for all of my friends to enjoy! I want to make everything from scratch like guacamole and salsa to make it more authentic.
Challenges Overcome: I’ve gotten groceries for everything and am setting it all up to be used in an orderly fashion.
Obstacles Faced: I am not sure if the meat will be able to hold on the mount we make and it will be tough for the nachos to be hot.
Looking Back: I learned that this stuff is a lot, I have spent around $250 on stuff which also includes the mounting equipment for the table.
Update #2: Had a party and made mount
35% completeI ended up having around 15 people over and it was all last minute. They ended up helping me make the mount while I was working on prep stuff.
Challenges Overcome: My friends figured out the best way to make the mount and the guacamole salsa and al pastor sauce came out great.
Obstacles Faced: The glue didn’t stick much to the material so they had to use steaks to go through the pyramid.
Looking Back: I learned that friends are key because they did it their own way as I didn’t even know what to do.
Update #3: Constructed the meat up
70% completeI ended up putting on the meat around a bunch of foil and it actually stayed up pretty well.
Challenges Overcome: I made al pastor sauce that everyone loved and rubbed it all over the pineapple and meat to add more flavor to it which was a crowd favorite as I gave them samples.
Obstacles Faced: It was challenging to stick the meat on but I made sure I was precise when poking it through.
Looking Back: I learned that al pastor sauce was actually easier than I thought to make. Also that the team structure was a success!
Update #4: Finished the tower!
100% completeWe stacked it with the classic nacho ingredients with homemade salsa lava to get this party started!
Challenges Overcome: I was more than happy with how it came out as it went all the way around and everyone absolutely loved it.
Obstacles Faced: The biggest challenge was definitely filming a bunch while making sure the nachos weren’t getting too cold. A lot of the clips were oners but was also filming 4 videos on it at once.
Looking Back: I learned that homemade ingredients are super expensive and I should’ve just bought everything already if I wanted to budget, thank god I wasn’t trying to budget because I’m happy with my choice.
