Progress Updates (6 total)

Update #1: Recreate the Klondike Choco Taco at home

Choco Tacos were discontinued in 2022, and I have been craving them ever since. I purchased pizzelles from Bova’s Bakery in the North End to try to make the shell.

Update #2: Finished the taco shell

25% complete
Once they were softened by the microwave and formed, they hardened back up and held their shape very well

Update #3: Folding the shells

45% complete
Microwave the shells covered in wet paper towels to fold them. Blow on them to cool them
Looking Back: Less wet paper towels work best. 25 seconds in the microwave

Update #4: Filled with ice cream

65% complete
The softer the ice cream the better, but you have to work fast because it’s a fine line between frozen and liquid

Update #5: Filling with ice cream and dipping in chocolate

75% complete
I used chocolate chips for cookies and the chocolate was too hard to dip. Need a better kind next time
Challenges Overcome: Added milk to the chocolate to soften it. It made dipping possible
Next Steps: Hopefully the chocolate solidifies in the freezer now
Looking Back: Get the right chocolate next time

Update #6: Finished product!

100% complete
After freezing again, this is how they came out, I would say this was definitely a success! They tasted amazing if I may say so myself!
