Update #1: Prepare the ground for a vegetable garden
Gardening is healthy, fun and rewarding once you start enjoying the fruits and veggies
Challenges Overcome: Turn the soil,get rid of weeds, spread and mix some all natural / organic garden foods to enrich the soil.
Obstacles Faced: Weather and steady warm temperatures gradually. Keeping away wild animals that we are surrounded by and of course getting sunny and warm days much needed for a steady growth.
Looking Back: I learned to overcome the hardship that comes with it in order to achieve success in the process .
Update #2: Starting my vegetables seeds inside our green house
20% completeThe seeds came up very healthy except for couple of beans and sunflowers . May be it was too cold for them .
Update #3: Planted my veggies in the garden first week of June , as it is the rule of thumb.
50% completeThe warmer days & nights made the soil temperature ready for planting.
The garden looks good and healthy.
Challenges Overcome: The veggies started to grow rapidly in the warm soil based on the healthy green leaves.
Obstacles Faced: Keeping wild life away from the garden ; squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, birds and our chickens:)
Looking Back: Weeding would be my challenge .
It’s a continuous and not so fun process.
Update #4: Watering, weeding,feeding and mostly enjoying the healthy greenish of the plants.
65% completeThe garden looks great and the veggies are happy and healthy:)
It’s definitely a fun and relaxing hobby.
Challenges Overcome: Daily caring of the garden makes a huge difference.
Obstacles Faced: The challenges become minor when you see good results.
Looking Back: Perseverance is the key to success;)
Update #5: Taking daily care of my veggies in the garden to keep them as healthy as possible
75% completeThe veggies are growing by the day and starting to produce fruits.
It’s fun to watch.
Challenges Overcome: Again, feeding, weeding, watering and supporting plants with trellises.
Obstacles Faced: Just a gardener needs to be patient, knowledgeable and willing to improve ways going forward.
Looking Back: I would make sure to learn more about best methods to treat and care for my veggies .
Update #6: Just realized the vegetable plants already producing fresh veggies. I picked up 2 tomatoes and noticed “Koussa” on the zucchini
80% completeWhat changed: our garden is growing so healthy now and starting to produce vegetables.
Update #7: Picking up « koussa » Lebanese summer squash and tender green beans ,prepared a delicious meal
85% completeThe garden is at its best now, very healthy and loaded with fruits and vegetables.
Update #8: It’s the harvest season 😍picking up different varieties of vegetables and fruits from the garden
90% completeThe warm weather is a big positive factor in ripening the vegetables of all kinds.
Challenges Overcome: Keeping up with watering, weeding and feeding the plants 🌱
Obstacles Faced: Finding a way to keep the insects away from the plants to keep them safe.
Looking Back: Just keep up with learning and improving every single year.
Update #9: Continue to harvest the many different varieties of veggies and fruits; great feeling !
95% completeJust dealing and trying to get rid of some insects that are causing harm to the plants.
Update #10: Picking & enjoying freshly cut veggies : tomatoes, eggplant, koussa, peas, crispy lettuce, peas and parsley….
100% completeThe only change is the garden is in full bloom now ; very satisfying , pleasant and rewarding.
Challenges Overcome: Working outdoors, enjoying fresh air and picking up fresh home grown vegetables.
Obstacles Faced: Making sure the soil is healthy , weeds is in control and keeping insects away.
Looking Back: Perseverance and patience.
