Update #1: Paint oysters for wedding favors for a friend
My friend is getting married October 19th and I offered to make some party favors for the guest. My goal is to decorate some oysters shells I got from a oyster bar in Boston downtown.
Challenges Overcome: I went and picked up the oyster shells from the oyster bar that gave them to me.
Update #2: Disinfect and clean the oyster shells
10% completeI got home and boiled them to disinfect and help clean them
Update #3: Soak them in 1:1 water-bleach for an hour and then scrub them with a brush.
25% completeBoiling them did not give me the results I wanted. So I have to add a step to deep clean them using bleach.
Update #4: Painted them
40% completePainted the inner part of the shells with 3 coats of white paint and outer part of the shells with 2 coats of gold paint.
Update #5: Painted the inside
80% completeDecoration was done by using Mod Podge and a brush to attach the decoration in the inside of the oyster shells.
Update #6: Oyster are done!
100% completeI sealed them using 1 coat of dish washer safe Mod Pudge on each side and then a clear acrylic spray sealer on both sides as well.
