Crochet a Chainmail Style Coif

I’m making a chai mail coif for a Joan of Arc costume. I started by trying a bunch of different kinds of chain but wasn’t able to crochet them easily, the knots used too much chain. Here I’ve moved on to crocheting with rayon yarn.

I completed the rayon yarn build of the coif, next I’ll move on to adding chain over the yarn to simulate chainmail

I’m so close to being finished chaining this full hood - the weekend after Halloween I ran out of the cable chain I’ve been using and had to have it shipped. Probably have 1 more afternoon of work left!

Almost all the chain is done, I tried it on to plan the rest of the costume pieces - the next update will be the final costume in context.
