Update #1: Knit the “Bloomstra” Hat

This year I’ve been focused on colorwork. I started this hat a while ago but had to wait for more yarn to come in. So far I’ve knit the brim, folded it over, and started knitting the body of the hat. P
Obstacles Faced: I’m learning that it’s difficult to finish the top of the hat without double pointed needles even when the pattern doesn’t call for it. I might switch from the circulars when I get close to the end

Update #2: Knit half the cap

50% complete
I’ve completed the rim, folded it over, switched directions, and knit half the cap.
Next Steps: Next I’ll start the decrease rounds and probably switch to double pointed needles
Looking Back: I’ve knit a few colorwork hats like this recently and I’m used to shorter, more frequent repeats - it took me longer to figure out what I’m knitting without intricately following the pattern.

Update #3: Started the decreases for the crown

75% complete
I’ve moved the hat to double pointed needles to start the decreases for the crown. Double pointed needles give more flexibility as the stitch count gets smaller.

Update #4: Finished the hat!

100% complete
I finished stitching this weeks ago but hadn’t done the final step of tying it off and weaving in the ends. Sometimes the last step is the easiest to put off! Today I finished it and weaved in all the ends!
