Update #1: Knit the “Bloomstra” Hat
This year I’ve been focused on colorwork. I started this hat a while ago but had to wait for more yarn to come in. So far I’ve knit the brim, folded it over, and started knitting the body of the hat. P
Obstacles Faced: I’m learning that it’s difficult to finish the top of the hat without double pointed needles even when the pattern doesn’t call for it. I might switch from the circulars when I get close to the end
Update #2: Knit half the cap
50% completeI’ve completed the rim, folded it over, switched directions, and knit half the cap.
Looking Back: I’ve knit a few colorwork hats like this recently and I’m used to shorter, more frequent repeats - it took me longer to figure out what I’m knitting without intricately following the pattern.
Update #3: Started the decreases for the crown
75% completeI’ve moved the hat to double pointed needles to start the decreases for the crown. Double pointed needles give more flexibility as the stitch count gets smaller.
