Update #1: Learn to Roll my R’s
Kids used to make fun of me in my Spanish immersion elementary school for not being able to roll my R’s and since I’m planning to continue learning Spanish soon I want to finally get this skill down.
Challenges Overcome: So far what I have done is basically just struggle lol. When I try to roll an R, I either do a flipped R that sounds sort of like a soft D or I make a weird gargling noise in the back of my throat because I DONT KNOW WTF IM DOING lol.
Obstacles Faced: My tongue not wanting to do what my brain is telling it to do. Or more likely, my brain trying to control my tongue too much and it gets too stiff or something idk and then my tongue doesn’t do the thing.
Looking Back: I’ve watched YouTube videos and one of the more helpful ones said to put my lips together and make a raspberry noise by blowing out while keeping the lips closed—but not pursed—and feel where my tongue was in my mouth and where it hit on my palate to know the positioning of the tongue because it’s the same place. I tried that and surprisingly it made sense. When I tried to do it with an open mouth it didn’t make sense anymore. Bah.
