A chanterelle does not possess true gills, instead has a network of "false gills" that are actually wrinkles in the underside of the cap. This is the most important feature in identification. False gills should fork.

Forged for Indian cucumber - Medeola virginiana. Found many, only few were mature. The edible rhizome is crisp and taste like cucumber

Wintergreen and sweet fern stocks. This is where we found the wild cranberry bog. Not sure what meadowsend group is up to..but they share their land to walkers and foragers. I see their signs everywhere, they own large tracks of land in Weare

Mycology is slooow! No water in this area. Polypores are doing ok, like this Bondarzewia berkeleyi. Lobster mushrooms and chicken of the woods are popping up sporadically
