Update #1: Get in at least 20 days of skiing this season
Ski season is here and it's time to hit the slopes.
Last year I got 19 days in, so this year I'm looking to get at least 20 in.
Obstacles Faced: Weather and time.
Update #2: Day 1
10% completeMy first day of this season at Ragged Mountain. I got 10 runs in over 4 hours. Lift lines weren't terrible, but there were only a handful of trails.
Looking Back: I was almost sidelined by a headache, but I was luckily able to procure some medicine. Next time, I need to bring my own.
Update #3: Day 2 - Tenney Mountain
10% completeWent to Tenney Mountain today for my second day of the season. Not a whole lot to ski here today, but still thankful to get some runs in.
I'm getting used to the new pair of skis I purchased. Learning where the skis like to turn and how they perform on different surfaces is of vital importance. I am not regretting my purchase yet!
With Christmas and a long weekend coming up, I'm hoping to get 2 more days within the next week
Update #4: Day 3 - Magic Mountain
15% completeI was unable to get 2 days this past week due to the weather and holidays, but I still made it out to Magic Mountain in Vermont.
As it's still early in the season, the conditions weren't great. In fact, the skiing was representative of what skiing was like in the past before snowmaking was widespread. The base of snow is small so saplings, roots, and other plants pop out of the snow; lots of skied off areas on trails; and pockets of moguls forming.
This was my first time skiing in these conditions with my new skis. I found the challenge worthwhile and I'm learning more and more about how these skis perform. These kind of conditions beat up on skis, so I might have to do a little tuning before heading out on the slopes again.
Update #5: Day 4 - Burke Mountain
20% completeFor my 4th day out, I made my way over to Burke Mountain in Vermont. The conditions were ok on most trails, so after lunch I made my way into an unmarked glade.
This trail was the hardest thing I've skiied this season. It was steep, bare, and dangerous. There was one drop-off I had to jump, not to mention all the trees. Nevertheless, I had the time of my life on this.
Update #6: Day 5 - Pat's Peak
20% completeDon't ski the day after squats
Fake snow is fun to ski in the rain

Update #7: Day 6 - Burke Mountain
30% completeBack to Burke for day 6. Really crowded, but still enjoyed the day out. Lots of tree skiing done with no injury to myself 🤣
Update #8: Days 7-10
50% completeIt's been quite a while since I've made an update, although I haven't stopped skiing. I'm now up to 10 days, having gone to Pat's Peak again, Waterville Valley, Tenney Mountain, and most recently Dartmouth Skiway. I'm now half way through my goal with at least 3 more months of skiing left. The skiing has been awesome as of late thanks to the dump of snow we got.
Update #9: Day 11 - Cannon Mountain
55% completeFor my 11th day, I finally made my way to good ol' Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH. Thanks to all the snow we've been getting I was able to ski Kinsman Glade, which is one of my favorite trails. The photo was taken on the trail about a 4th of the way down.
Kinsman is narrow, long, and the steepest trail in all of New Hampshire (5th steepest on the East Coast).
Update #10: Day 13 - Waterville Valley 2
65% completeI'm up to 13 days now, having gone to Waterville Valley most recently. I lucked out and got to experience a beautiful day under the sunshine. Ski season has been great so far and I'm looking forward to the upcoming spring days
Update #11: Day 14 - Black Mountain
70% completeHad a beautiful day of spring skiing at Black Mountain for my 14th day. Could not have asked for better weather, although the snow conditions could've been better. Snow that's melted and then froze tends to grab at your skis and it takes a few runs to break it down into soft snow again.
Update #12: Day 15 - Bolton Valley, VT
75% completeFor my 15th day, I headed up to Bolton Valley in Vermont. While New Hampshire is thawing out from winter, northern Vermont is still getting snow and I was greeted with several inches of fresh pow pow. Just enough to make the tree skiing worthwhile. Great views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks can be seen at the summit here!
