Progress Updates (5 total)
Update #1: Make my own natural deodorant
I’ve been making my own natural deodorant for years because I believe it’s a great way to avoid putting unnecessary chemicals on my body. I usually prefer a liquid consistency, which I can apply like a lotion on my armpits, and I’ve been experimenting with this recipe. My last batch was a little too runny, so I am trying this new version to make it ticker.
Update #2: Measure and mix dry ingredients
30% completeMeasure and mix dry ingredients.
- Corn starch - 2 tablespoons
- Arrow Root - 2 tablespoons
- Baking soda - 1.5 teaspoon
- Bentonite clay powder- 1 teaspoon (optional)
Update #3: Add liquid ingredients
75% completeAdd liquid ingredients.
- Aloe Vera - 100ml
- Vegetable Glycerin - 1 tablespoon
- Tea tree oil - 1.5 tablespoons
Update #4: Label and add essential oil of your preference as fragrance.
90% completeLabel and add essential oil of your preference as fragrance.
Tea tree oil is a potent antimicrobial (antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral) which in this case acts as antibacterial combating bad odor cause for bacterial.
Tea tree oil does have a nice fresh/minty fragrance but I like to add a few drops of lavender to add more herbal and sweet tones.
I label my jar with the date to keep track when my batch was made.
Update #5: Daily use bottle and store the rest.
100% completeI reused a clean old essential oil dropper to keep my daily use deodorant, and I store the rest of deodorant in the jar in the fridge.
Whenever I use up my small daily use bottle of deodorant, I just refill it and put the rest again in the fridge.
This recipe should last around 2 months for 2 people.
Super easy and quick to make and you know exactly what you are putting on your body.
