Progress Updates (5 total)
Update #1: Flash a V7 Climb
I want to be confident, technical, and strong enough that I can climb a V7 and complete it on the first try.
Challenges Overcome: I have flashed (completed on the first attempt) a handful of V6 climbs and am ready for the next challenge.
Update #2: Nearly Flashed a V6
5% completeI made a small mistake and didn’t see a foothold which led me to make a poor decision and me falling off the wall. I’ll look more closely at the wall next time.
Challenges Overcome: The climb felt incredible. I felt like I had a good understanding of how to navigate each hold.
Obstacles Faced: I got a bit excited and jumped on the wall without seeing every foot hold.
Looking Back: Check the wall meticulously first.
Update #3: Almost Flashed a V6 Part II
5% completeAnother close flash on a V6. Just forgot a transition on my second attempt at this climb. 3 attempts total.
Challenges Overcome: Completed a V6 in three attempts.
Obstacles Faced: Don’t rush things.
Looking Back: Check the climb transitions even more thoroughly.
Update #4: Almost Flashed a Challenging V6 Climb
30% completeI made sure I figured out my personal beta and identified which holds didn't work for me quickly.
Challenges Overcome: Identify handholds and skippable handholds.
Obstacles Faced: Small handholds on incline walls.
Looking Back: Grip tighter!
Update #5: Crushing Dynos!
35% completeI’m growing more confident in dynamic movements and pushing hard to get to the next hold. Dynos are aplenty in V6’s and V7’s so confidence in this area will be so helpful in flashy future routes.
Challenges Overcome: Deep breath and push!
Obstacles Faced: Overthinking the problem or worrying about getting hurt.
Looking Back: Just go for it. No fear!
