Progress Updates (3 total)

Update #1: Build a Camera Obscura

Build a pinhole camera and capture an image on some film or tracing paper. The clearer the picture the more points awarded!
Challenges Overcome: I've done some research on pinhole cameras. I also have some plans in mind for what household materials I can use to make the camera for cheap. My plan is to use an old can found in the recycling bin as the "body" of the camera.

Update #2: Research

65% complete
Did research on RC paper, darkroom concepts, and DIY pin hole cameras.
Challenges Overcome: I think I have a better understanding of how the camera obscura works, and I learned about RC paper and film developing.
Obstacles Faced: Lack of project time - I work full time and best time to take pictures is during the day!
Next Steps: Make the Cafenol (developing agent) and fixer. Prepare a "darkroom" setup Prepare camera Take picture Develop film
Looking Back: Order materials earlier. Shipping has taken a few days to get the paper and trays. Think of what can be done when stopped on another task. I cant shoot at night, but I can prepare the "camera" in a window or something else.
Additional Notes: Get started sooner. Lost track of time and worked on other tasks not related to this goal.
Discussion: I found some really helpful youtube videos on a channel by the name, brendanbarryphoto

Update #3: Image on board

100% complete
Had some boxes lying around. Cut them up and taped them to a window and cut out a hole then put a magnifying glass in the hole and used a board to project the image onto. Had to be close though since the magnifier was pretty low I guess. Also late in the day so low light came through.
Challenges Overcome: Finished camera! Learned a bunch of cool stuff and hopefully tricks for the future.
Obstacles Faced: None, finished the stated goal.
Next Steps: I want to try and make my own developer and fixer to develop some RC paper of the image.
Looking Back: Look out for time bandits.
Additional Notes: Great time making camera.
Question: Anyone else thinking of trying to capture their image on some film paper? If so let's collaborate. I got some Foma Varient 312 paper I'll be testing out.
